The railway is also involved in modernization of several projects such as renovation works on railways stations with the New Delhi Railway Station renovation works being the most ambitious. It is expected that these upgrades will take three to four years. In addition, there are ongoing plans to enhance locomotives, passenger cars, freight cars, and even wagons. The installation of the rail network safety initiative ‘Kavach system’ is also on track across the entire railway network.
